Originally from Ternopil, Ukraine Vocal Group OTAVA sings and performs a creative fusion of traditional Ukrainian and Lemko folk songs with a modern twist, as well as carols and hayivky, Cossack songs and songs of a spiritual nature. Not to be mistaken with the city Ottawa, ‘OTAVA’ in Ukrainian is a word that describes young grass shoots that sprout after the first mowing and regardless of how often it is mowed, it will always grow! This symbolizes OTAVA group, its’ members and our Ukrainian song!
OTAVA’s talent came to light when they recorded a CD of the Holy Liturgy. A highlight of the band is a capella polyphonic singing, combined with arrangements, producing a unique and unforgettable experience for listeners. The artists’ aim and philosophy is to promote Ukrainian pop song, folk and spiritual music. The band OTAVA portrays its’ talent and work beyond the cities of Ukraine. They have graced audiences in Poland, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and more recently, in Canada.
On May 10 at 2 pm, OTAVA will sing for the North American audience via the Ukrainian Canadian Art Foundation Virtual Concert Series.

Вокальний гурт “Отава” з Тернополя – творчий колектив традиційної української пісні, який виконує власні, авторські, українські народні пісні, колядки й гаївки, козацькі пісні та твори духовного змісту. Колектив носить назву «Отава» – що означає молода трава, яка проростає після першого покосу і скільки б її не косили, вона завжди буде проростати! Цим символізується наш гурт, наш народ і наша українська пісня!
У їхньому виконанні світ побачив диск Святої Літургії! А особливістю гурту є акапельний багатоголосий спів, що в поєднанні з аранжуванням справляє неповторні та незабутні враження на слухача. Філософія і мета артистів – популяризація української естрадної пісні, фольклорної та духовної музики.
10 травня гурт ОТАВА виступатиме для глядачів Північної Америки за посередництвом Канадсько-Української Мистецької Фундації у Серії Віртуальних Концертів.
