The Ukrainian Association of Visual Artists of Canada (USOM) is celebrating its 65-th year in 2021. We are dedicating our jubilee exhibition to the distinguished Ukrainian poetess, writer, playwright and publicist Lesia Ukrainka on the 150-th anniversary of her birth. For the theme of our exhibition we have chosen the title of her second collection of poetry “Reflections and Dreams”.

The theme, we believe, is in harmony with the aims of USOM. Artists transform their thoughts and dreams through their talent, imagination and emotions into concrete visual representations. Every line, stroke or splash of colour is harmonious with the rhythm of musical melodies, the rhythm of the poetic word and the drama of life’s cross-roads. In celebrating Lesia Ukrainka’s personal and artistic life’s path, our Association is joining numerous exhibitions, concerts, literary events and conferences taking place in Ukraine and the world.

It is with pleasure that I extend greetings to our members on this anniversary of USOM (Canada). In the 65 years of our interesting and unforgettable history our Association has united generations of talented and prominent artists. With your creative endeavours and dedication, you are making a great contribution to the development and popularization of Ukrainian art in Canada and to Canadian culture as a whole.

Oleh Lesiuk, President
Ukrainian Association of Visual Artists of Canada
