Brief Encounters is an exercise in the aesthetics of nostalgia through documentation of fleeting moments that relate in one way or another to the artist’s experiences of growing up in Ukraine.
The title is a reference to the transient nature of relationships in a globalized world, the trans-Atlantic relationships that are nurtured through
Viber / WhatsAPP / Skype, and the short in-person encounters that result more in otherness rather than togetherness.
Each frame is charged with personal histories, speaks of memories real and invented.
