Artist statement: “My work is about the process and psychology of creating abstract landscapes relevant in the 21st century, thereby igniting the subconscious and engaging the imagination of the viewer. Technological breakthroughs, advanced photography, electron microscopes, telescopes, human anatomy, and underwater locations have all served as inspiration for my earlier work. Elements that bring comfort and recognition are also in my thoughts as I proceed to develop paintings such as S-curves, plants, earth, sunlight, and tactile textures. My recent work is somewhat more representational: the fascinating worlds of rain forests, volcanoes, and deep sea environments provide an abstraction entirely their own, requiring no dramatic alterations and, thus, giving the viewer a surreal glimpse into the natural world.”
