Senkiw Christina (1950-2018)

Christina Senkiw was born in Toronto, Canada. From 1960 to 1964, as an elementary school student, she attended art classes at the Art Gallery of Ontario. In 1973 she completed her B.A. in Fine Art at the University of Toronto with a double major ? History of Art and Architecture, and Fine Art Studio. She continued studying painting, illustration, and design at the Ontario College of Art and Design.

Christina paints, writes and illustrates. She has exhibited her paintings in 12 solo exhibitions, and has participated in numerous group shows in Canada and the United States. Christina is inspired by the world of form and colour. In her paintings she has explored the entire colour spectrum ? from subtle colour interactions in her early abstract paintings, to bold colour statements in her current, more figurative, work. She uses crisply delineated forms to construct dynamic compositions. Christina is interested in universal themes, and uses symbolic imagery to enrich her art.

Christina has written and illustrated 6 children?s books. She illustrates her children?s books in a detailed, semi-realistic style, using toned down colour schemes. She is also the author of numerous articles on art.
